Good morning! Today I wanted to share my favorite healthy podcasts and apps that I use on a regular basis. Technology is so amazing and I love having one device to encourage me mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. While I know our phones can be distracting and a waste of time, I’m going to show you how to use them to the advantage of your health!
Fresh Finds: APPS
Strides App // Goal Setting
The Strides App (free) has been a great way for me to set mini goals during the week and be encouraged to reach them. You can set reminders to pop up on your phone for things like “Drink Water” and the like. Your dashboard shows you where you are at for the week and helps support you in reaching your daily goals.
5 Minute Journal App ($4.99)
This is one of my newest apps and the perfect way to be intentional with your day. You start with a morning entry and end the day with an evening entry. A daily quote is sent to you to encourage you and you can also add a picture to your day to keep track of the happy’s in your week. Definitely worth the $5.
Other Noteworthy Apps:
Bit Timer: perfect for HIIT workouts at home or on the go
Map My Run: perfect for tracking your time and distance on outdoor runs
My Fitness Pal: perfect for keeping you on track with eating healthy
Favorite Finds: PODCASTS
Happier with Gretchen Rubin
I’ve mentioned this podcast before but I truly love Gretchen Rubin and am trying to push myself to read her newest book The Four Tendencies. I’m just bad at spending time on reading, thus why “Read for 1 hour” is on my Strides App above. They have “Little” podcast sessions that are quick thoughts for the day or longer sessions that dive into an issue like “7 Myths of Happiness”. The dynamic of the two sisters talking together is so fun too. Give it a listen!
Balanced Bites: Modern Paleo Living
Balanced Bites is a great podcast for those interested in health challenges such as Whole 30, detoxing from sugar, hormone balancing and the like. Also great for those with kids or pregnant as Liz Wolfe is writing a book called Baby Making and Beyond and has great information. (Not that I would know much about that!) They focus on living a healthy lifestyle with an emphasis on a Paleo diet.
One of my 30 Minute Morning tips is to spend time meditating. I have enjoyed these meditation minis as they range from 10-15 minutes and have a wide variety of topics. Chel Hamilton’s voice is very soothing and she is creative in the visualization process of meditation.
The Ultimate Health Podcast
I love the Focus Friday sessions of this podcast as they are little 10 minute tidbits of health tips that will kick off your weekend. Jesse & Marni did one lately on “Intentional Friendships” that was a great little reminder of you become like the people you spend the most time with.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these tips and let me know if you try any of these apps or podcasts out!
