Good evening! Happy Sunday. Wow it feels like forever since I blogged last, probably because it has been 😉 I left off letting you guys know we were moving and that has been the reason for my lack of content. BUT I’m back! And I’m ready to share the latest and greatest with you.
Finds, Fitness & Flavor
On Saturday, February 2nd we packed up our U-haul and made our trek from Atlanta to Mobile, AL! The Uhaul we rented was 27 feet! And we definitely packed it to the brim.
Darin was brave and drove it all the way. I made it in the passenger seat for half of the trip before I asked to switch out with my dad and drive a separate car. I hated being up so high and feeling out of control in that thing! No thanks. I’ll just drive my little car instead 😉
That’s an “I’m excited to be moving but not be in a moving van” face.
The drive down is only about 4.5 hours and the time passed fast. I’m so glad we aren’t too far from my family so that I can make a trip home whenever I want. Plus my extended family all lives in Pensacola, FL which is only 45 minutes from us!
We made it to Mobile! The boys immediately started unpacking and I can’t wait to share photos of the inside of the house with you guys soon!
Our new home. We are renting and are so thankful to have found a home that we love. Apparently the Mobile rental housing market is booming because every house we looked at was snatched up within days. As soon as we saw this one we said we’d take it!
We moved because of my husband’s job and unlike our last move, this one is permanent. No more picking up and living out of a suitcase! So I can now call Mobile home. Our neighbors even offered to watch out for our house while we went on our cruise! Oh yeah.. about that…
One week after we moved in, we flew to Ft. Lauderdale to head off to the Bahamas on a cruise with Darin’s company. It was so much fun and I snapped some pictures for you guys! Sunday morning we loaded up on the ship. Did I mention it was the biggest cruise ship in the world? Royal Carribean’s Allure of the Seas.
Thank God we weren’t on the Carnival Triumph, although it did follow us back to Mobile. Anyways, we checked in Sunday morning.
We had a nice room on the 12th floor with a balcony overlooking the water. We had time to spare until dinner once we boarded so we hung out on the balcony and watched as we departed from the shore.
Photo-ops on the deck of course.
I love Ft. Lauderdale and could totally live there. Just give me a little waterfront condo with a pool and a butler and I’m good to go. That’s normal right?
You can tell Darin’s thrilled that I keep snapping pics.
Our cruise was from Sunday-Thursday and we had sessions on board our Seminar at Sea with his job. So most of the day was spent listening to speakers and attending sessions but we learned a lot.
I woke up at 6am Monday morning and hit up the running track on board.
Not a shabby view for a run huh? I loved the running track because there was a cool breeze and mileage tracking. Plus the awesome view of course!
I was able to keep up with my Best Body Bootcamp workouts on the ship because of the nice fitness center and running track on board!
That’s what I love about Tina Reale’s Best Body Bootcamp, it’s flexible and works for your schedule! You can also adapt her workouts to work for you at home, travel or at the gym! Her next session is in March so keep a lookout for sign up!
Monday night was the Captain’s Dinner and we got all dressed up! Thank God I kept my college formal dress and didn’t have to buy a new one for the cruise.
The food was delicious on board! Darin enjoying his favorite dessert, cheesecake.
Tuesday was our day on land in Nassau, Bahamas. We decided to meet up with one of our friends, Nathaniel, and explore Paradise Island.
You see how huge our boat is?! Crazy.
We took a water taxi over to Paradise Island and were given a little tour of the area while on it. For $4/person you can’t go wrong.
Once we docked, the three of us headed out to explore. We picked up another taxi and were taken to the beach so that we could soak up some sun!
Gah! Look at this water. The ocean was so beautiful. I wanted to stay forever. Darin & Nathaniel were debating running into the water right then but we decided to find some lunch.
We walked down the beach about a 1/2 mile until we found a resort with a deck overlooking the water. The One & Only Beach Resort was so nice and let us eat lunch there even though we weren’t guests at the resort.
We were all so excited to be here in paradise. It was truly beautiful and such perfect weather for lunch on the patio. Although we had no idea until later that the going rate for a room at this resort is $1,200/night. No big deal.
I ordered a Lobster Burger- yes lobster. With a side of sweet potato fry’s. This sandwich was the bomb. I ate it all.
Darin had a jerk chicken sandwich which I tried and it was so good!
Nathaniel ordered a Mahi Mahi sandwich and we all dug in to our food!
With a little bird friend waiting for a spare fry to drop.
We ended our day soaking up the sun and sand! I wish I could live there, seriously. It was gorgeous and so peaceful. Darin & I had a great time on the cruise and we were glad to have one more trip together before we get to work here in Mobile!
I hope that you have a wonderful Monday! See you later for some food prep ideas & recipe shares!
Have you ever been on a cruise? If you could pick one place in the world to visit where would it be?
