Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! So I know it’s kind of late but I wanted to share my New Years pics with you. One day I will be better at posting the day after an event instead of a week 😉 I spent the Sunday evening before New Years prepping food and drinks because I worked all day Monday.

Flavor & Finds

I started with a batch of Red Sangria. I came up with this recipe a few years ago and have loved it. It’s Peach Orange Sangria. I never liked the recipes for simple red sangria because it needed a touch of something so I like to add my own special ingredient: Peach Schnapps. You can’t turn it down and you need to make a batch this big because Sangria disappears fast at parties.

I like to make this ahead of time so that it can soak throughout the day but it will still taste great if you make it on the spot.

Peach Orange Sangria Ingredients:

  • 3 bottles (750ml) of Red Wine (I used cheap Cabernet Sauvignon from Whole Foods)
  • 1.5 cups of Peach Schnapps
  • 1 cup of Orange Juice
  • Juice of (2) Oranges (I like freshly squeezed too, just do it)
  • (2) Lemons Sliced
  • (1) Orange Sliced
  • 1/4 cup of sugar

Cut up the (2) lemons & (1) orange into slices for garnish. Pour the wine into a big pitcher and then add in Peach Schnapps, Orange Juice, juice of fresh oranges & sugar. Stir together and then drop in the slices of fruit. Chill in the refrigerator until cold or for several hours for the fruit to soak up the flavors!

Make sure to pour yourself a glass before the guests arrive otherwise you may not get to try it later 😉

I also made Pioneer Woman’s Avocado & Corn Salsa. I used (2) cans of corn instead of fresh corn. Sorry I’m not that gourmet. It turned out delicious- this is a mixing pic.

And on the side: Angela’s at Oh She Glows- Adventure Trail Cookies. These are a staple in my dessert recipe ideas.

Other food not pictured: Chicken Satay Skewers. I used this recipe and they turned out great with the Peanut Sauce on the side.

New Years Eve came around and we headed to our friend Ashley & Cord’s house. Ashley decorated the house all black & gold for the holiday and had everything ready for a celebration! It was also a theme party: Black & White dress.

Our friends Victoria & Caio and Grant & Sam came over as well! Grant’s brother Colby & his wife Sharon came with them too. It was a great time eating delicious food, toasting it up to the New Year and watching the ball drop. We also spent hours playing fun games together which always keeps thing entertaining. Some of our favorites: Psychologist, The Broom Game & Mafia << you should try them at your next hangout.

Here’s our group all dressed in Black & White.

Cheers to the New Year! We all loved ringing it in with great friends.

What’s your favorite appetizer to take to a party? I need ideas 🙂

Be on the lookout for a workout and new recipes this week! Here’s hoping I have time to post them 😉
