Good morning! I hope you guys are having a wonderful week so far. My husband received a job promotion last week and I surprised him with a night getaway to Young Harris, GA. I’ve always wanted to visit the Brasstown Valley Resort as we have passed it several times on adventures in the mountains with my family and friends. Well lucky for me Living Social was running a deal for $85/night if you went by November 30. So we went on November 30th ๐Ÿ™‚

This is a bird’s eye view of the resort. They have a beautiful golf course on the property along with a spa, horseback riding and hiking trails.

When we arrived at the resort on Friday afternoon, it was decorated lovely for Christmas. I love holiday decor and was excited to see the poinsettias tucked in little areas and the beautiful Christmas tree as the focal point. The mountain view in the background wasn’t too shabby either ๐Ÿ˜‰

Darin and I walked around the resort and took in the beautiful view. I loved the row of wooden rocking chairs where we ended up spending most of our evening talking and enjoying the fall air.

I love getaways with this man, we always have fun together.

Darin was a little jealous of the man golfing out on the course while we were there. I felt bad that I didn’t tell him to bring his golf clubs. That may or may not have been on purpose, sorry I’m not a big fan of driving the golf cart around for 18 holes. But next time we come we will bring another couple so he can go golfing with another guy.

After taking in the sights we wandered around the inside of the resort before dinner. They had a Gingerbread House Town that a local school had crafted. I’ve never seen a Christmas town setup like this, it was so cool!

They also had a market going on in one section where local vendors were selling their crafts and treasures. I loved these handcrafted wooden bowls. The man was making some while we were there and he uses different types of wood to create pretty designs like these below.

After touring the resort we stopped into the dining room for dinner. They had a seafood buffet that also included a salad bar and dessert bar. Woof. We ate too much. I dropped my Nikon off in the room before dinner and only used my iPhone for pictures after, thus no food photos to share, they just never turn out well.

They had a carving station for roasted pork tenderloin along with fresh salmon and any toppings you’d like to put on it like capers or tomatoes.

The dessert section was ridiculous, there were at least 15 different desserts to choose from.

After dinner, dessert and coffee, we headed to the downstairs tavern area to the firepit they had lit. We spent the rest of the evening warming by the outside fire and enjoying each others company.

It was a great weekend overall and I’d definitely recommend a stay at the Brasstown Valley Resort if you are ever in the North Georgia area.

Have you ever stayed in a mountain cabin or resort? What’s your favorite getaway spot?
