Good morning! My morning started with a new bag of coffee which always makes me happy. I love the smell of opening a new bag of coffee.

My choice of coffee this week at the grocery:

It was my first time trying Publix Organic Coffee and it was great and only $6.50 for a bag.

On sale at Publix this week is Buy 1 Get 1 Free Rainier Cherries. I love cherries and have been waiting for them to go on sale. I rinsed them this morning and had them along side some greek yogurt.

Watermelon and cantaloupe were also on sale this week which I was excited about! I love summer fruits so much.

Last night was my first time at the gym since last Thursday since we had been out of town. I got some cardio and exercises in over the weekend but it felt good to be back at the gym. In honor of a few people requesting a good leg workout, this one left me sore today and focuses on lifting your butt, slimming down the sides of your thighs and the “saddlebags” area.

Summer Legs Workout

Workout Breakdown:

Clock Lunges- Holding weights in your hands, lunge forward with your left leg. Return to starting positing and lunge to the side. Return to starting position and then lunge back with your left leg. That’s 1 Rep. Now repeat to 15 reps.

Standing Leg Raise with Side Crunch- Holding a weight in your left hand, put your right hand on the back of your head. Stand on your left leg, lean over slightly to the left so you feel a “crunch” in your side and then crunch to the right, bringing your right leg up to the side at the same time. Repeat to 15 reps. (Picture below is moderated with no weight.)

Move 2: Standing Side Crunch

Squat and Side Leg Raise- Squat down holding one weight in your hands. While steadying yourself on your left leg, remaining in a squat, raise your right leg to the side and return to starting position. Repeat to 15 reps.

Fire Hydrants with Side Kick- Get on all fours on a mat or towel. Raise right leg like a “fire hydrant” pose then kick your leg out to the side, parallel with the ground. Return to starting position then Repeat to 15 reps.

Something to share that I have learned. While I’m not a fitness expert by any means, I have learned that you can’t really “spot train”. If you really want to slim down the sides of your thighs or the pouch under your butt, you have to focus on clean eating. The more veggies, fruit, whole grains and lean protein you eat, you will see a difference. I used to workout all the time but still would wolf down a plate of nachos and drink a margarita and expect to see results. Yes you can have fun in life and no you don’t have to give up your girls nights, but it’s all in moderation.

I hope you guys have a wonderful day!

What’s your favorite summer fruit? Mine is Watermelon because it’s so refreshing and sweet!
